On December 23rd AWP Vice President of Operations Tom Plaugher celebrated his 25th anniversary with the company. As is tradition at AWP Tom was rewarded with a new shotgun to commemorate his twenty -five years of service.
Tom began as a procurement forester responsible for developing logging crews to support the Norton sawmill. His time in operations began as plant manager of the Riverton sawmill and was the promoted to assistant operations manager over all locations. In 2001 Tom was named operations manger over all sawmills and dry kiln operations and later was named Vice President of Operations. Tom currently oversees activities at all AWP sawmills and dry kilns, the AWP IT group, AWP transportation, Allegheny Exports and Appalachian Wood Pellets.
Currently Tom represents AWP as a board member of The National Hardwood Lumber Association, The Pellet Fuels Institute and The Cherrywood Lumberman’s Association.
Tom is a native West Virginian and enjoys time with his wife gardening and participating in many outdoor activities including horseback riding, hunting, and fishing.
