On February 22, 2023, employees at the Petersburg Dry Kiln Facility gathered for a luncheon and honored several retirees and recognize two other employees’ 25-year anniversaries. Petersburg plant manager Frank Weese said, “Many of these folks retired during the Covid epidemic and we couldn’t gather to honor them, so today was an opportunity to ask them to come back and for us to show our appreciation for their hard work and loyal service. This group of people represent a lot of experience and knowledge…they will be missed but we wish them the best in their retirement.”

At the same event two employees, Wes Simmons – maintenance supervisor, and Steve Shreve – forklift operator was recognized for their 25-year anniversary with AWP. AWP Vice President of Operations Tom Plaugher was on hand to present both men with AWP’s traditional 25-year gift of a shotgun. Plant manager Weese commented, “These men are both hard working and dependable employees and we’ve been fortunate to have them here for 25 years”.
