On Tuesday February 21, 2023, Jonny Batton was recognized for twenty-five years’ service with AWP. Jonny started with AWP on February 9, 1998 at the Norton Sawmill as a log scaler. Jonny came to AWP after having been with other companies for eight years during which time his duties included grading lumber, running dry kilns, selling dry lumber, and managing personnel.
Two years after joining AWP Jonny became assistant mill manager at Norton and then moved on to become chief lumber inspector for all AWP sawmill and dry kiln locations. His duties included training new inspectors and checking quality. In 2005 Jonny became responsible for coordinating efforts between sales and the newly acquired Marble, Princeton and Enfield locations. “This was one of my favorite positions I’ve held at AWP because while I had deep operations experience, this role exposed me to the sales/business end of our company” said Jonny.
Currently Jonny is the log yard manager at the Frametown WV log yard and a member of AWP’s log resale team. Jonny commented, “These past twenty-five years have been an enjoyable learning experience and I look forward to the next twenty-five years.
As is company tradition Jonny received a new shotgun as a twenty-five-year service award.
