Truck drivers from throughout West Virginia gathered at Grimes Enterprises LLC in Daily West Virginia on Saturday February 18, 2023, to raise money for Grayson Cragg. Twelve year old Grayson has been battling Chiari malformation, a condition in which brain tissue extends into the spinal canal. Grayson has already undergone four surgeries but now needs an additional fifth surgery. Unlike the other surgeries Grayson had, this next one is to take place in Texas and would require a few weeks’ stay. Randal Grimes, owner of Grimes Enterprises LLC had someone suggest the convoy to help raise money for the expenses.
Various truckers formed the convoy and donated their time and revenues for the day to Grayson and his family. Members of Allegheny Wood Products Transportation Team were on hand to support and donate to the cause. Transportation Director for AWP Sam Blizzard presented a check from AWP to the family.
Grayson said he was thankful for everyone’s generosity. “It feels good that they came out to support me. I feel very loved and supported,” said Grayson.
Grimes Enterprises LLC is an important transportation asset for AWP. Grimes Enterprises hauls logs and green lumber into and out of several AWP locations. “Every day, Grimes Enterprises really helps us by moving products for our mills. We appreciate all they do for us and being at their event is just one way for us to show our appreciation.”
CBS affiliate in Weston/Clarksburg/Fairmont WDTV Channel 5 was on hand to cover the event. Their report can be view at https://www.wdtv.com/2023/02/18/local-truckers-donate-time-money-boy-need/.
